Speech2Mail Guide

SMTP vs IMAP Voicemail Intake

Compare Speech2Mail incoming SMTP and IMAP mailbox intake methods for voicemail transcription and analysis.

Incoming SMTP

The PBX sends voicemail email directly to Speech2Mail. This is the preferred option because it is clean, fast, and simple to support.

IMAP mailbox

The customer forwards voicemail emails to a managed mailbox. Speech2Mail monitors that mailbox and returns the processed result.

Same output

Both methods can produce transcription, summary, analysis, and contact details depending on the customer template.

Which should you use?

Use SMTP direct when the PBX or VoIP platform can be configured to send voicemail email to Speech2Mail. Use IMAP when forwarding to a mailbox is easier or when you do not control the customer phone system email route.
